Del Oro finished 20th overall at the California State Tournament this weekend with Siraj Sidhu taking 4th and Jagger French taking 5th. The #11 seeded Sidhu lost in the second round to #6 Paulo Valdez (Hesperia HS) but proceeded to win five straight matches in consolation before losing 4-2 to #4 Abram Cline (Granite Hills HS) in the third place match. This was Sidhu's second state medal in two trips. #5 French lost in the quarterfinals to #4 Max Del Bosque (Clovis North HS) and dropped down to the blood round against #10 Dylan Guillermo (Palm Desert HS). Down 3-2 in the third round, French scored the winning takedown with five seconds left in the match to go ahead 4-3 and secure a spot on the podium. French won two more matches to cinch the 5th place finish. This is French's first state medal in three trips to the state meet.
